Many people mix milk and bananas with chira (flattened rice) and eat them together. Some are in the habit of drinking banana milkshakes, and some eat milk and bananas with oats. But did you know that many experts believe milk and bananas should not be eaten together? Here is why.
There is no doubt that milk and bananas are each very nutritious foods. Bananas contain plenty of calcium and potassium and provide energy, so eating one keeps you full for a long time. Many people also eat bananas with their evening meal without much trouble from acidity.
Milk is an extremely beneficial food, rich in protein and calcium. But eating milk and bananas together can interfere with digestion, and together the two may lose all their nutritional value.
Who should and should not eat them together
Some people recommend banana milkshakes; others are against them. Some health experts are not at all in favour of eating bananas and milk together. In their view, if you want both, drink the milk first and eat the banana 20 minutes later. A banana and milk milkshake may also affect sleep, they say.
Another group of health experts, on the other hand, say the mix of bananas and milk is very beneficial for those who want to gain weight and who do regular physical work. But people who suffer from phlegm build-up because of asthma or allergies, or who have breathing difficulties, should never eat bananas and milk together.
