Hasnat Mamun, a mango farmer from Shibganj in Chapainawabganj, wants to give 10kg of mangoes each as a gift to the families of those martyred in the July uprising.

He made the announcement on his Facebook page on Saturday, 5 July.

On Facebook, mango farmer Hasnat Mamun wrote: "This year we are very busy and tired with mangoes. But in this very month last year, so many spirited young people gave their lives for us while fighting for our rights. Their parents may still be overwhelmed with grief. Among those brothers and sisters, mangoes will be given as a gift on my behalf to 10 families of those martyred in the July movement. If anyone knows the address of a martyr's family, please send it to my inbox."

Hasnat Mamun told Jago News: "My heart cries for the martyrs of the July revolution. But I don't have much. I do the mango business, so I wanted to share the pain of the martyrs' families by giving them mangoes."

He said: "So far I have got the names and addresses of three martyrs' families. Once I have the names and addresses of seven more, I will send Fazli mangoes to all 10 families together."

"Many of the families of those martyred in the July revolution are not well off or self-reliant. So we all have to come forward," Hasnat Mamun added.
