Mirpur upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Arafat Aman Aziz in Kushtia has been accused of using a government vehicle for personal purposes.

On the evening of 23 May he came in a government car to the Alampur cattle market in Kushtia Sadar upazila to buy a cow. Several upazila administration staff and Ansar members were with him.

Inquiries found that the UNO and those with him were walking round the Baliapara cattle market, looking at cattle and bargaining. They left quickly when they noticed journalists were present.

Tariqul Islam, driver of the UNO's government car, said the UNO had come to the market to buy a cow.

Asked about it, Mirpur UNO Arafat Aman Aziz said, "I came to town and just dropped in to look round the cattle market."
