Abdullah Al Mamun, deputy director of the Department of Agricultural Extension in Kurigram, has been transferred.

The agriculture ministry has posted him as seed certification officer in Jhenaidah district.

The decision was conveyed in an order signed on Monday by deputy secretary Kamrul Islam Khan of the ministry.

A responsible source in the district administration said the transfer was punitive, following repeated disorder in fertiliser distribution and continuing hardship for farmers.

The order requires him to join the new posting before the afternoon of 23 September.

Farmers in Kurigram have blocked roads and demonstrated over fertiliser this Aman season, and the district has begun issuing a soil health protection card.
