About two years ago, Srinivas Gowda of Karnataka, India, was working at a software company. But he did not enjoy the routine of a nine-to-five office job, so he left it. Wanting to do something different, he started keeping donkeys, and the 42-year-old is now earning an income he never imagined.

According to the news agency ANI, after quitting his job Srinivas set out to open the first donkey farm and training centre in Karnataka and the second in India. When he first shared the plan, many people mocked him, but he was not discouraged.

After leaving his job in 2020, Srinivas set up the farm on 2.3 acres in Ira village of Dakshina Kannada district. The report puts his spending on it at about 40 lakh rupees; in a quote shared on Twitter, he put his investment at around 42 lakh rupees.

The farm now has 20 donkeys. He wants to make donkey milk available to everyone and says he has already received orders worth 17 lakh rupees.

"Presently we have 20 donkeys and I have made an investment of around Rs 42 lakhs. We are planning to sell donkey milk which has a lot of advantages. Our dream is that donkey milk should be available to everyone. Donkey milk is a medicine formula," he said in the post.

Srinivas says donkey milk is very tasty, very valuable and suitable for making medicines. He plans to sell it in packets to shops, shopping malls and supermarkets, and in future to sell it for making cosmetics too.

He is selling 30 ml of donkey milk for 150 rupees, which works out at 5,000 rupees a litre, or about Tk 6,000 in Bangladeshi currency.
