Distribution of aus rice seed and fertiliser to 1,600 small and marginal farmers has begun in Jhenaidah.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Razia Akter Chowdhury opened the two-day distribution of seed and fertiliser at 10am on Monday, 24 March, at the Sadar upazila agriculture office.

The seed and fertiliser are being distributed free of charge under the incentive programme for the kharif-1 season of the 2024-25 fiscal year, to increase cultivation and production of high-yielding aus rice.

The event was chaired by Sadar upazila agriculture officer Md Nur-e-Nabi, with additional agriculture officer Muhammad Junaid Habib and agricultural extension officer Mir Rakibul Islam present.

According to the agriculture office, a total of 8 tonnes of seed and 32 tonnes of fertiliser will be distributed among 1,600 farmers in Sadar upazila over the two days. Each farmer will receive 5 kg of seed, 10 kg of DAP fertiliser and 10 kg of MOP fertiliser.

Upazila agriculture officer Md Nur-e-Nabi said aus rice seed and fertiliser are being distributed among 1,600 marginal farmers, free of charge, on Monday and Tuesday.
