A farmer named Hafizur Rahman (45) has died after being bitten by a venomous Russell's viper while working in a banana orchard in Ishwardi, Pabna.

The report says he died at his home on Friday (31 May). Hafizur Rahman was the son of Afsar Hossain Khan of Digha village in Sahapur union of the upazila.

His cousin, Abdul Majid, told Jago News that Hafizur Rahman was working in a banana orchard on the Dadapur Padma char on Thursday afternoon (30 May) when the venomous Russell's viper bit him. He was later given antivenom at Pabna General Hospital. His condition improved somewhat at night and he was brought home. When his condition worsened on Friday morning he was rushed to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Shafiqul Islam Shamim, residential medical officer (RMO) of Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex, said the man had died before reaching the hospital.
