To ensure uninterrupted power supply during the coming summer and irrigation season and in Ramadan, the Power Division has asked that irrigation pumps be run from 11pm to 7am. It has also asked that irrigation be done using the alternate wetting and drying method to ensure economical use of electricity and fuel.
The request was made in a government press release on Monday (17 March).
Other requests
To avoid load-shedding, the release also asks people to keep air conditioners at 25 degrees Celsius or above, and asks shops, shopping malls, petrol pumps and CNG stations to avoid extra lights and decorative lighting. If power supply is disrupted for any reason, people are asked to call the Power Division hotline, 16999.
