Fast food and fried snacks taste even better with chilli sauce. But shop-bought sauce causes stomach trouble for many people.

If you can make fresh chilli sauce at home in a simple way, it will be healthier and tastier, and you can control the heat and sourness to suit yourself. Here is how.

You will need:

  • 10–12 red chillies
  • 4–5 cloves of garlic
  • Half a cup of vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

First wash the red chillies and remove the stalks. Then blend the chillies and garlic together.

Put the mixture in a pan, add the vinegar, sugar, salt and a little water, and cook over a medium flame.

When the mixture starts to thicken, take it off the heat and let it cool. Once cool, bottle it and store.
