A computer programmer earns 50,000 a month growing flowers in nothing but trays and pots. This is his story.

If you do not come to love your work, no salary will make you keen on it, and every day you have to drag yourself to the office. But what if a chance comes along that offers both money and enjoyment? Few would let it slip, and neither did the son of a farming family in Saidpur, Haryana, India. His name is Bipin Rao Yadav.

Bipin is a computer programmer by profession. A computer science graduate, he found a job with a company. His father makes his living from farming and had decided from the start that he would never bring his two sons into this hard occupation; both would have good jobs.

Both Bipin and his elder brother followed the path their father dreamed of. His brother completed a BTech and went into a job. Bipin graduated in computer science in 2015 and joined a company in Gurugram, but he did not like the job at all. First, the salary did not allow the life he wanted; second, he never came to love the work.

On a friend's advice, Bipin joined a training course at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra near his home. There he learnt how to farm profitably and how to grow crops without much land. Paying no heed to discouragement, he spent his savings of 2 lakh on farming supplies and began growing in a polyhouse on just 100 square feet of his father's land.

The profits did not come at once. Working hands-on brings many mistakes, and one learns from them, as Bipin did. He began growing in pots without soil, using cocopeat and other materials. He started farming in 2016 and within two years had results beyond his expectations.

He began growing many kinds of flowers and vegetables, and rented a separate 1,800 square feet of land to build a polyhouse. He now has 2,500 trays and pots and produces about two and a half lakh flowers a month. Flowers are his main business.

According to the report, Bipin is now only 20 years old and already earns at least 50,000 a month. His aim is to expand the business, and he wants young people like him to take up farming instead of chasing jobs for no reason.
