After black tea, green tea and white tea, the country has now produced "yellow tea". It has been made from one bud and one leaf at the Brindaban tea garden in Habiganj. The garden started producing it on a trial basis and is now producing it commercially. Those involved believe this will make it possible to earn a large amount of foreign currency.

Alongside ordinary tea, the white tea and yellow tea of the Brindaban tea garden have drawn a strong response.

The yellow tea developed at the Brindaban garden was formally put up for auction in Chattogram on Monday (15 March). The authorities auctioned 6 kg of yellow tea for the first time, and it sold at Tk 8,300 a kg.

Nasir Uddin Khan, manager of the Brindaban tea garden, claimed the garden is the first in the country to produce yellow tea. He said yellow tea has been produced after the garden's success with white tea. There is strong demand for yellow tea at home and abroad, and producing it commercially could earn the country a large amount of foreign currency.

He said no separate plants had to be grown to produce white or yellow tea; these special teas can be made from the same plants purely through processing.

Tea researcher Mahamud Hasan Prince said yellow tea tastes different from other teas, and this kind of tea had never been produced in the country before. Yellow tea will bring something new, and other tea gardens in the country will come forward to produce it. By producing yellow tea, the Brindaban tea garden has made history, he said.
