If you cannot find a sapling of a flowering plant, you can propagate one from a cutting. If you have no rose sapling, for example, bring home a branch and set it in a potato. There is nothing surprising about it; try it and you will get a whole rose plant from a potato.
What you need and how to do it
First take a rose branch that will stay alive for a few days. Then get a round potato, a plastic bottle, soil, a knife and a small container or pot, and start your rose growing.
With the knife, carefully trim off the extra leaves on the stem so the main stem is not damaged. Then make a small hole in the middle of the potato and set the rose cutting in it. Make sure the cutting is held firmly in the potato so the stem does not bend or break.
Dig a hole in the ground, place the potato with the cutting in it and cover it with soil. Or you can prepare a pot: fill a quarter of it with soil, pressing it in well with a trowel if needed, set the potato in the pot, then fill the pot with more soil over the potato.
If you have no open ground for planting, cut the bottle in two. You can use the bottom half of the bottle, and cover the top of the cutting with the upper half. Make sure the bottle's mouth stays open.
Wait a week after planting and you will see your rose plant growing quickly. In this way you can grow new roses from your own rose stems at home.
