Gumboots were distributed among 100 farmers in Goalanda upazila of Rajbari as Russell's vipers and other snakes have become more common in the area.

The gumboots were handed out at 5pm on Thursday (27 June) in the upazila parishad hall room.

Rajbari-1 MP Kazi Keramot Ali attended as chief guest at the event, which was presided over by Goalanda Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jyoti Bikash Chandra.

Special guests included Goalanda Upazila Parishad Chairman Mostafa Munshi, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shafiqul Islam, Goalanda Ghat Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Uttam Kumar Biswas, acting Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Shariful Islam and Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Khokonuzzaman.
