The government is offering relief on the import of materials for fruit bags, which are used in producing fruit for export. The proposed budget includes a cut in the duty on importing the raw material for these bags.

Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury presented the budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year on Thursday, 11 June.

In his speech he said: "I propose to reduce the existing import duty on biodegradable composite paper, the main raw material for fruit bags used in producing safe and exportable fruit through marginal women entrepreneurs and cottage and small industries at the local level, from 10 per cent to 5 per cent."
