A bull called "Don", weighing 1,600 kg, has been prepared in Faridpur for Eid-ul-Azha. It stands 6 feet 4 inches tall and is more than 12 feet long, and its owner is asking Tk 25 lakh for it. Even before reaching the market, the huge Friesian bull has caused a stir, with people coming from far and wide to see it.

The bull belongs to Rubayet Hossain of Harerkandi village in Majhardia union of Saltha upazila, Faridpur. It was fattened naturally. Cattle traders from different parts of the country are bargaining over it online, and Rubayet will sell Don if he gets a good price.

Local resident Azizur Rahman Aziz said that after news of "Faridpur's Don" spread on Facebook, many buyers had been haggling online. Rubayet will sell Don for Tk 25 lakh. Every day people crowd in from far away to see the giant bull.

Owner Rubayet Hossain told Jagonews: "I bought the bull about two years ago for Tk 3 lakh 60 thousand. It was raised entirely indoors and was not taken outside for a single day. Last week we broke down the shed to bring it out."

He says Don was raised entirely on local feed. He grew grass himself to feed the bull, and also gave it gram, bran and even oranges, maltas, grapes and bananas every day. He will sell the bull for Tk 25 lakh.

District livestock officer AKM Asjad told Jagonews that Rubayet had succeeded in raising a Friesian bull. "We have looked into it and are monitoring regularly to make sure no drugs are given to the bull. He has been given various advice," he said.
