The carcass of a huge elephant has been recovered from a paddy field in Satkania, Chattogram. The Forest Department recovered it from Sonakania union in the upazila on Saturday morning (6 November).

Local people believe an electric trap had been set to protect the paddy field from elephant attacks, and the elephant may have been electrocuted when it came into the settlement in search of food.

Md Mamun Mia, range officer of the Satkania Madarsha range, said an elephant's carcass had been recovered from a paddy field in the Sonakania union area. "We are looking into how it died. If anyone is involved in this incident, legal action will be taken," he said.
