Among Bangladesh's daily essentials, eggs are one product whose price is set every morning.
Just as eggs are a staple of many people's breakfasts, the price at which eggs will sell in the market is also decided in the morning.
Nahid Hasan, a member of the Tejgaon Egg Association, one of the largest egg associations in Dhaka, said: "In Dhaka people shop at night. At night we get a sense of the market, and the next day's price is set accordingly."
He said egg wholesalers across Bangladesh are informed of the price by text message.
"When supply runs a bit short, we raise the price a little. More demand, higher price. Because we can't hold on to eggs. They will spoil in the heat," Mr Hasan said.
Rajshahi is another major centre where egg prices are set.
Price according to demand
The president of the egg wholesalers' association has a shop at Moslemer Mor in Rajshahi.
The president, Joynal Abedin, told the BBC that egg prices depend on demand, and that the price is set by taking into account demand in Dhaka and in local markets.
"By around eight in the morning we can tell what the price will be. But all the wholesalers are informed by half past twelve in the afternoon," he said.
