Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has formed an investigation committee to find out how much damage was caused by the sacrificial animal market at Diabari in Uttara, Dhaka.

The committee was formed through a DNCC office order on Wednesday (3 June) and has been asked to submit its report within the next three working days.

The office order said the temporary cattle market ran from the empty land in the Boubazar area next to sectors 16 and 18 of Diabari to the empty field of C-Block in Sector 18 beside the metro rail. Rubbish piled up along the roads under the Uttara Centre metro station, trees were broken and the movement of vehicles carrying animals also caused damage. The committee will assess the extent of this damage and report within three working days.

The committee members are DNCC's additional chief waste management officer, the executive engineer of Zone 6 and the assistant chief waste management officer of Zone 6.

The committee may co-opt any member if needed. The order was issued by DNCC Secretary Mohammad Mamun-ul-Hasan with the approval of the appropriate authority.
