Days of intense heat in the capital have left birds uncomfortable too; on 29 September Prothom Alo photographed a flock of kites bathing in the pond at Suhrawardy Udyan.

Dhaka has had several days of intense heat, and birds are suffering as much as people. To get some relief, a flock of kites came down to the pond in Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.

Prothom Alo photographer Shubhra Kanti Das took the pictures in the park on 29 September. Some kites wet their bodies in the water, some splash it over themselves with their wings, and others skim the surface with wings spread.

One picture shows a kite spreading its wings as it soaks itself. Another dips its head and throws water over its body. After bathing, the birds shake the water off with a flap of their wings and get ready to fly again.

Several kites were seen in the water together, and one tried to take off from the surface with its wings outstretched.
