Digital payment booths have been opened at six cattle markets under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) to ensure safe and easy transactions: Gabtali, Bosila, Aftabnagar, Bhatara, Kawla and Uttara Sector 17. Buyers and sellers can use the service while the markets are running.
DNCC chief estate officer Mohammad Mahe Alam opened the service at the Bhatara cattle market in the capital on the afternoon of Monday, 4 July.
Mahe Alam said the Smart Haat initiative was taken to ensure safe and easy transactions for buyers and sellers at the Qurbani cattle markets, and the digital payment booths at DNCC's six markets had been opened with the cooperation of Bangladesh Bank.
He said the initiative would play an important role in removing the risk of carrying cash and the problems of counterfeit or torn notes.
