Market drives were carried out in Dhaka city and at divisional and district level across the country to keep the prices of essentials such as hilsa, eggs, broiler chicken, onions, garlic, potatoes and edible oil stable and their supply normal.

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection carried out the market monitoring in Dhaka city and across the country on Wednesday.

In the Dhaka metropolitan area, eight teams led by eight of the directorate's officials monitored markets in different parts of the city.

In all, 54 teams of the directorate ran drives in 48 districts and fined 106 firms a total of Tk 6 lakh 48 thousand.
