A woman named Mst Khodeja Khatun, 55, has died after her sari became entangled in a fan while she was winnowing paddy.

The incident happened at around 10:30am on Thursday, 19 September, in Subalpur village of Jibannagar, Chuadanga. Khodeja was the wife of the late Zakaria of Balrampur village in Kotchandpur upazila.

According to her family, Khodeja Khatun had gone to Subalpur village two days earlier to see her sick nephew Ashadul. That day, to help her sister, she was cleaning paddy with the wind from a large steel fan (without a cage) attached to an engine-driven power tiller.

Her sari was accidentally caught in the fan and she suffered serious injuries to various parts of her body. She died from excessive bleeding before she could be taken to hospital.

SM Jabid Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jibannagar police station, said an unnatural death case has been filed at the station over the incident.
