RAB has detained a man named Abdul Aziz with three tokay geckos at Sarishadanga in Chuadanga. He was detained in a raid at about 8pm on Wednesday (19 November).

Abdul Aziz said he had caught the three geckos in Khagrachhari a few years ago and had been keeping them in a plastic basket at his home.

Lt Wahiduzzaman (S) BN, commander of the RAB-12 Meherpur camp, said a RAB team raided on a tip-off and detained Abdul Aziz. The three tokay geckos in his possession were recovered, with an estimated value of Tk 60 lakh.

He added that Abdul Aziz was involved in buying and selling wildlife. He was handed over to the police station after a case was filed against him under the wildlife conservation law.
