The proposed budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year has increased the allocation for the Ministries of Agriculture, Food, and Fisheries and Livestock.

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed began announcing the Tk 7,89,999 crore budget at 3pm on Monday, 2 June, and proposed raising the allocation for these sectors in his budget speech.

The budget is about Tk 7,000 crore less than the original budget for 2024-25, but about Tk 46,000 crore more than the revised budget.

In his speech, the finance adviser said: "For the 2025-26 fiscal year I propose a total allocation of Tk 39,620 crore for the Ministries of Agriculture, Food, and Fisheries and Livestock, compared with Tk 38,259 crore in 2024-25."
