Vice-chancellor Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa has launched a tree planting drive at the permanent campus of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) in Baklia, Chattogram city.
He opened the drive by planting a banyan sapling at the permanent campus in Hamidchar, Baklia, on the afternoon of Wednesday, 21 June.
The vice-chancellor said tree planting programmes are being held across the country at the call of the prime minister, and as part of this the drive has begun at the BSMRMU permanent campus. Trees must be planted to keep nature in balance, he said.
Present were Boalkhali upazila parishad chairman Rezaul Karim Raja, campus project director Commodore Mohammad Ehsan, Chattogram Dry Dock GM Captain Mohammad Hanif and university officials.
