Dholababu, a bull from Boalmari upazila in Faridpur, weighs 36 maunds. The bull has been prepared for Eid-ul-Azha and is being offered for sale at Tk 15 lakh.

The sturdy black-and-white striped Friesian has grown on ordinary balanced feed. Its owner, retired teacher Md Enamul Kayem, hopes to sell it at the price he expects.

The bull is on the farm of Md Enamul Kayem, a resident of Chandani village in Gunbaha union of Boalmari upazila and former assistant head teacher of Kharsuti Chandra Kishore High School in the upazila. His wife, Jharna Begum, lovingly named it 'Dholababu'. The gentle bull responds when called by that name. Jharna Begum has been raising Dholababu for three years.

Many people crowd the house to see the huge bull. An offer of Tk 12 lakh has already been made at the farm, but Enamul Kayem is not satisfied with it.

Enamul Kayem told Jago News that three and a half years ago he bought Dholababu's mother, then pregnant, in Jashore for Tk 3.5 lakh. Dholababu was born a few months later, and his wife Jharna Begum raised it with great care.

Dholababu is 8 feet long and 6 feet tall. With the help of a doctor from the upazila livestock office, its length and girth were measured with a tape and, using the weight formula, it is estimated to weigh at least 36 maunds. It is being priced at Tk 15 lakh for sale at this Qurbani Eid, but its owner hopes to sell it from home rather than at a market.

The retired teacher told Jago News that he had not used any medicine or injections to fatten Dholababu. It has been given balanced feed three times a day, at a cost of about Tk 500 a day. Green grass, wheat bran, oil cake and rice bran are mixed with water and fed to Dholababu three times a day.
