Snake Rescue Team Bangladesh has rescued an injured fish eagle of an endangered species in Boalkhali, Chattogram.

Rescue team member Shuvo Barua recovered the eagle from Bengura railway station in Boalkhali on Sunday afternoon.

Shuvo said local people had asked for help with the eagle on the Snake Rescue Team's page, and the bird was rescued after the team got the news.

He said the grey-headed fish eagle had injuries to its leg and wing and could not stand because of the pain. It is being treated under the supervision of the Wildlife Crime Control Unit, and once it recovers it will be released through the Boalkhali administration.

The grey-headed fish eagle is a fish-eating bird of South-East Asia, roughly the size of a vulture. Its wings are dark brown and white, which look almost black from a distance. It has a whitish head, neck and throat, which shade from pale brown to dark brown towards the breast.

The tail can be called black, but with a broad white band across the middle, or a white tail with a wide black band at the tip and black at the base. The flight feathers of the tail and wings are mainly black, though a few of the inner primary feathers carry white bands. Much of the underwing covert feathers are whitish.
