The US Environmental Protection Agency has granted federal registration to Bifender Duo, a soil insecticide from Vive Crop Protection that combines bifenthrin with a biopesticide active ingredient, giving growers two separate modes of action against soil insects as well as activity against nematodes.

The biological ingredient was developed and is made by ProFarm, and EPA cleared it as a new active ingredient in 2025. Vive built the product with ProFarm and adjusted the formulation with its Precision Chemistry technology, which runs on its patented Allosperse delivery platform, to ready it for commercial production.

"Pairing a proven synthetic like bifenthrin with a new biological mode of action means growers get the performance they already trust, plus an added layer of protection they haven't had before," said Marie Yeager, senior product manager at Vive. Chief technology officer Doug Baumann said the aim was to combine two proven types of crop protection into one product that performs better than either alone.

Vive has applied for registration in individual states and expects approvals in key markets before 1 February 2027. Bifender Duo is a restricted-use pesticide.
