Sacrificial animal markets have come alive in Bhairab. Animals have arrived at Rasulpur and other markets in the upazila, but buying and selling has not really started.

On the ground, local cattle and goats were lined up for sale. Buyers were choosing animals to suit their needs and bargaining over prices.

Cattle seller Masum Mia, who came from Moutupi in the upazila, said he had brought two cattle to sell. Although there are enough buyers at the market, sales are low; buyers will check carefully before buying cattle for sacrifice.

Local union parishad member Md Rubel Mia said he had come to buy a cow for Qurbani. He liked one and offered Tk 1 lakh for it, but the seller would not sell at that price.

Fazlul Haque, president of the Sadekpur union Awami League, said local cattle have arrived at the market and buyers of all kinds are crowding in to buy them, but not much buying and selling is taking place.
