A deer was killed by a truck in the forest of Satchari National Park in Habiganj on Sunday (5 March) night.

Confirming the incident, local environmental activist Md Muttakin told Jago News that an endangered barking deer was killed by a sand-laden truck in Satchari park at night.

Chunarughat upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Siddhartha Bhowmik said he had learned of the matter but could not give any details yet.

Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Sylhet divisional forest officer of the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division, said the matter was being investigated, but there was so far no report of the deer having been recovered.
