The two-day Bangladesh Poultry Convention 2023, organised by Poultry Professionals Bangladesh (PPB), is to be held at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) in the capital.

The convention will take place on 28 and 29 January 2023 at the university's Teacher-Student Centre. Poultry farmers from different regions, people in the poultry profession, and teachers and students of the country's agricultural universities will take part.

At a press conference at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) centre in the capital on Saturday 24 December, Dr Abdur Rahman (Rafi), convener of the convention's publicity and publications sub-committee, gave details of the convention and PPB's work.

He said that on the first day (28 January), after the opening ceremony at 10am, there will be an open discussion on Bangladesh's poultry industry, followed by sessions on food safety practices for sustainable poultry production in Bangladesh and on innovative and smart transformation of poultry farming.

On the closing day (29 January), there will be sessions on international trade in poultry products, the commercial prospects of poultry and poultry products in South Asia, the poultry supply chain, and the use of biotechnology for safe egg and meat production from a Bangladesh perspective.

A 108-page souvenir will also be published for the convention. Online pre-registration in three categories is now open for those wishing to take part, through which a total of 600 participants will be finalised: 300 farmers, 100 students and 200 other poultry professionals.
