A trader named Ananda Kumar Biswas, 32, has died of a snakebite in Baliakandi, Rajbari. He died at about 6pm on Tuesday at Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital.

Ananda Kumar was the son of Ramesh Biswas of Katurakandi village in Nababpur union of the upazila. He was a trader at Tentulia bazar.

Local union parishad member Kamrul Islam said that at about 2pm on Tuesday Ananda Kumar went to look at his crop in the Kathurakandi field in Nababpur union, where a snake bit him. Locals brought him home and had an exorcist (ojha) treat him with incantations.

When his condition did not improve, locals took him to Baliakandi Upazila Health Complex. Doctors there referred him to Faridpur Bangabandhu Medical College Hospital, where he died while under treatment in the evening.
