The government will give an incentive of Tk 57 crore 25 lakh to increase the cultivation and production of Aus rice. Under the incentive programme, 10 lakh small and marginal farmers across the country will receive seed and fertiliser free of charge. The Ministry of Agriculture gave the information in a press release on Tuesday (14 February).

The release said that, to raise production of high-yielding Aus rice, each farmer under the incentive will receive free of charge the 5 kg of seed, 10 kg of DAP and 10 kg of MoP fertiliser needed to grow one bigha of land.

The incentive is being given from the ministry's regular budget heads for agricultural rehabilitation assistance and for seed and seedlings. The Ministry of Agriculture also said distribution of the incentive at field level would begin soon.
