Rahul, Priyanka and 30 MPs freed after two hours
Delhi Police released all the opposition MPs detained on Monday, 11 August, on their way to the Election Commission office to protest against the revision of the voter list in Bihar and "vote theft". They were freed about two hours after being detained. More than 30 MPs, including Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and Trinamool Congress member Sagarika Ghose, had been taken to Parliament Street police station.

Air India cancels Washington flights over Pakistan airspace closure
Air India said all flights on the Delhi-Washington route will be suspended for now from 1 September because of problems caused by the closure of Pakistani airspace and a shortage of aircraft. Pakistan's airspace has been closed for a long time following the India-Pakistan conflict over the Pahalgam attack in Kashmir, forcing aircraft to fly much longer routes and making it very difficult to keep services running.
Strong earthquake shakes Turkey
A strong earthquake has shaken Turkey. The country's disaster management agency (AFAD) said a magnitude 6.1 quake struck Sindirgi in the west on Sunday, killing at least one person and injuring several others, AFP reported.
US housing market in turmoil
The US housing market is in turmoil because of the downturn. House prices fell slightly in the first half of 2025, dropping in most cities over the past three months in particular. High interest rates driven by the Federal Reserve's tight monetary policy are weighing on housing, and US President Donald Trump's tariff policy is also affecting economic growth.
