A wild elephant that was seriously injured after falling from a hill about 300 feet high in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, has died. The elephant died while under treatment at 10am on Sunday, 12 July.

It had been seriously injured after falling from the hill at around 3pm on Saturday, 11 July, in the Shiyailla Ghona area of Teknaf Sadar beat.

Abdullah Al Mamun, divisional forest officer of the Cox's Bazar South Forest Division, confirmed the elephant's death.

Earlier, the prime minister's assistant press secretary, BKM Nazmul Haque, said that when the injured elephant came to the attention of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, he immediately directed the authorities concerned to take the necessary steps for its treatment.
