A python caught in a fishing net in Hail Haor in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar, has been rescued unharmed by the Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation.
At around 10am on 15 June, two men named Nabin and Jabed were fishing in the Bharaura area of Hail Haor in Sreemangal when they suddenly saw a snake in their net.
Rescue and release
They told Koyes Ahmed, grandson of former chairman Sona Mia, who asked the Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation to rescue it.
Swapan Deb Sajal, director of the Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation, and environmental activist Rajdip Deb Dip went to the spot and found a python. It took them about an hour to rescue the snake unharmed.
The snake was then handed over to the range office of the Sreemangal forest department.
Sreemangal Forest Range Officer Md Nazmul Islam confirmed the matter and said the snake will be released into the forest.
