The qurbani cattle haat in Rangamati has come alive, with crowds of buyers and sellers growing at the market at the town's truck terminal.

Farmers are bringing cattle and goats to the haat from different upazilas. After buying, traders take the animals by truck to Dhaka and Chattogram.

Nuru Mia, who came from Barkal, said: "I have brought seven cattle to the haat. Buyers are coming, but so far I have not been able to sell a single one."

Farid Hossain said he brought two cattle to the market and sold one for Tk 80,000. He will sell the other if he gets a similar price.

Cattle trader Ilias Molla said he has bought 13 cattle and will take them, along with a few more, by truck to Chattogram, where cattle fetch good prices.

Ariful Amin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rangamati Kotwali police station, said police have been deployed at the haat. A control room has also been opened there, with a machine to check for counterfeit notes.
