Two goats weighing two maunds each, named "Tiger" and "Laltu", have been brought to market in Rajshahi, with a price of about a lakh taka being asked for each. People involved say this is the first time goats this big have been seen at a Rajshahi market, and many are crowding round to see them.

The goats are at the Rajshahi City Haat. Faridul Islam brought them from Niamatpur in Naogaon. He told Jago News he raised the white and red goats at home with great care, and his family affectionately named them Tiger and Laltu. Each weighs two maunds.

Faridul Islam said: "I asked Tk 1 lakh 10 thousand, but the offer for Tiger has reached Tk 70,000 and for Laltu Tk 60,000. If I get at least Tk 90,000 each, I will sell the two goats."

At the City Haat, a crowd had formed in front of Tiger and Laltu. Some were taking photos, others selfies, and many stroked the goats affectionately.

Trader Majidur Rahman made an offer for Tiger. He said: "Two-maund goats are in good demand in Dhaka, so I'm interested in these two. But they're asking too much. I offered Tk 70,000 and Tk 60,000, but he won't agree. Let's see what happens in the end."

Nizamul Haque, who had come to the market, was taking a photo beside Laltu. He said: "I've never seen such big goats at the market before. But the price is very high. I offered Tk 65,000 for Tiger, but he didn't sell."

Market leaseholder Atikur Rahman Kalu said that compared with last year, goats priced from Tk 10,000 to a lakh are available at this Rajshahi market this year, but prices are somewhat higher because cattle feed costs more.
