A fishing cat that came to take goat kids has been killed by a householder in Narua, Baliakandi, Rajbari.

The incident happened at dawn on Monday, 19 February, at the home of Helal Mondal in Charghikamla village of Narua union. The householder was attacked by the fishing cat.

As the news spread, local people crowded to Helal Mondal's house to see the animal.

Helal Mondal said that at about 4am on Monday he heard the goats crying and a strange noise from the goat shed and went to look. The fishing cat attacked him. To defend himself he struck it with the implement he was holding, and it died. He was wounded in the leg by the cat.

Local ward 4 member Md Afzal Hossain confirmed the incident, saying the fishing cat was about two and a half feet long.
