Sacrificial animal markets in the capital have come alive ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. The number of cattle and goats is rising at every market as traders arrive from all over the country, and sales are gradually picking up.

At the Gabtoli cattle market in the capital, however, a mobile court of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) is operating against fraudulent gangs that fatten cattle artificially using chemicals or injections. The drive began at 10am on Monday, 26 June, led by an executive magistrate from RAB headquarters.

The operation was confirmed by Senior ASP A N M Imran Khan, senior assistant director of RAB's Legal and Media Wing.

He said that around Eid-ul-Azha, fraudulent gangs fatten cattle artificially with chemicals or injections. A large number of livestock has already arrived at Gabtoli, and the RAB mobile court's operation against gangs fattening cattle artificially is continuing.

The mobile court is also operating against touts, muggers and counterfeit money at the market. The RAB official said details would be given once the operation ends.
