The Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation has rescued a python from inside a disused pit in the compound of a house in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar.

The snake was recovered at about 9.30pm on Monday, 7 September, from the pit in the yard of Bablu Deb's house in the Charuigaon area of Sreemangal.

Bablu Deb saw the python inside the abandoned pit in his yard and informed the foundation. Its director Swapan Deb Sajal, Sanjit Deb and environmental activist Rajdeep Deb Deep went to the spot and rescued the python unharmed.

After the rescue, the python was handed over to the Sreemangal forest range office.

Kazi Nazmul Islam, range officer of the Sreemangal Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division, said the snake would be released into the forest.
