A 12-foot python has been rescued from the ceiling of a house in Sreemangal upazila of Moulvibazar.

The Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation recovered the snake from above the ceiling of Roshan Ali's house in the No 5 Pul area of the upazila at around 10pm on Thursday, 13 August.

Roshan Ali spotted the snake in the ceiling as he was going to sleep. Frightened, everyone in the household left the house. He then called the Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation, and its director Swapan Deb Sajal and environmental activist Rajdeep Deb Deep came to the scene.

They found the python hanging from the ceiling and rescued it unharmed. The snake was 12 feet long and weighed 16kg. It was then handed over to the Sreemangal range office of the forest department.

Sreemangal forest range officer Nazmul Islam confirmed the rescue and said the snake would be released into the forest.
