A python about 12 feet long and weighing about 14kg has been rescued after it became caught in a net at Boalkhali in Chattogram.

The snake was trapped on the morning of Tuesday, 1 September, in the security net around a garden in the Bottola area of East Charandwip village in Charandwip union.

Amir Hossain Shaon, a member of the Wildlife and Snake Rescue Team who rescued it, said it was a Burmese python. The team freed it from the net at about 10:30am after receiving word, he said, and in line with the local people's decision it was released on farmland in the same area.

He said the Burmese python weighed about 14kg and was about 12 feet long.
