The Directorate of Primary Education has issued an urgent directive for every government primary school in the country to plant five saplings on 15 July, in line with tree planting by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The information came in a notice signed on Thursday, 9 July, by Md Sajjad Hossain, assistant director (general administration) at the directorate.

The notice says the Prime Minister will plant saplings on 15 July at the Primary Education Medal 2026 award ceremony at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre. To match that programme, five saplings from three categories, fruit, timber and medicinal, must be planted in the grounds of every government primary school at the set time on the same day.

Describing the matter as "extremely urgent", the notice instructs everyone concerned to take the necessary steps.
