Detectives of the Narayanganj district Detective Branch (DB) have found a factory making homemade weapons in a house in the Paikpara area of Narayanganj city. Two locally made revolvers, a single-barrel gun, intact shotgun cartridges and weapon-making tools were recovered.

The raid was carried out from the afternoon until evening on Wednesday, 21 February, at a house on Shah Suja Road in Paikpara. Police detained a man named Karim Mia.

Karim Mia is the son of the late Siddiqur Rahman of Maheshpur in Haimchar, Chandpur. He came to the area in the 1990s and lived at his sister's house. Behind a front of rearing pigeons, he made weapons and supplied them to various people.

Additional superintendent of police (crime) Chailau Marma, Sadar police station officer-in-charge Shahadat Hossain and members of the district police and DB took part in the raid.

Additional SP Chailau Marma said that alongside rearing pigeons, Karim Mia had for a long time been making firearms to order and supplying them. He will be questioned on this, he said.
