Narayanganj's qurbani cattle markets have come alive, with farmers bringing cattle from different parts of the country. Veterinary teams are working at every haat in the district.

Locals say this year the Fatullah DIT haat is being enlivened by 'Kalo Manik', 'Raja', 'Badsha' and 'Moni', with curious crowds gathering around them. Kalo Manik has been brought from Chandpur, while Raja, Badsha and Moni came from Shahjadpur in Sirajganj.

Shahriar Sajal, who is selling Raja, Badsha and Moni, said he raised the three from a young age and named them for fun. He has raised all three for three years. Raja, a 22-maund Holstein Friesian, is priced at Tk 10 lakh; Badsha, a 20-maund animal of the same breed, at Tk 8 lakh; and Moni, a 7-maund Friesian cross, at Tk 8 lakh.

He said the animals had been at the haat for one day. "As far as I know, the most attractive cattle at this haat are our Raja, Badsha and Moni. We raised them with a lot of love."

Alam, who is selling Kalo Manik, said he raised the animal from a young age on concentrate feed. It is a Shahiwal cross and he has raised it for four years. He named it Kalo Manik. It weighs 32 maunds and is priced at Tk 25 lakh. Kalo Manik is the biggest animal at the haat, he said.

District Livestock Officer Basona Akhtar told Jago News that the department has a veterinary team at every haat in Narayanganj and that there are enough sacrificial animals this year. The department is also giving agro farms whatever help they need to sell their animals.
