Cattle markets in Narayanganj have come alive for the Qurbani Eid. Cattle of various colours and breeds have arrived at every market in the city as farmers bring animals from different parts of the country, and the crowds of buyers have grown too.

This time two bulls named 'Raja' and 'Badsha' are the talk of the Fatullah DIT market in Narayanganj. The Bengali report's headline gives Raja's weight as 32 maunds; its text says 36 maunds. Raja has been priced at Tk 20 lakh and the 25-maund Badsha at Tk 15 lakh. Farmer Md Mozaffar Hossain hopes to sell both at these prices, though so far he has found no buyer.

Ordinary people have surrounded Raja and Badsha since they arrived at the market; the two animals have become an attraction for everyone. They were brought from the Santhia area of Pabna.

Farmer Mozaffar told Jago News: "I have raised them since they were small. I named them Raja and Badsha as a hobby. I have raised the two bulls for four years. The 36-maund Friesian Raja is priced at Tk 20 lakh, and the 25-maund Sahiwal Badsha at Tk 15 lakh."

"I brought them to the market only today. As far as I know, Raja and Badsha are the biggest cattle at this market. Since they arrived, people have been crowding around them and asking the price. I hope I may get a good price, but I haven't found a buyer yet," he said.

Narayanganj district livestock officer Basna Akhter told Jago News that there are veterinary teams at every market in Narayanganj, and that there are enough sacrificial animals this time. The office is also giving agro farms whatever help they need to sell their animals, she said.
