Two huge bulls, 'Rajkumar' and 'Sultan', have become the talk of Moulvibazar's qurbani cattle market. They were raised at the home of Jahangir Londoni in Sewaijuri village, Monumukh union, Sadar upazila.

Rajkumar is 8.5 feet long and 6 feet tall. Sultan, a year younger, is about 5 feet tall and about 7.5 feet long. The asking price for the two bulls is Tk 17 lakh.

Rajkumar weighs about 660kg (16 maunds) and Sultan 360kg (9 maunds). They have to be bathed three times a day. Their diet includes wheat bran, rice powder, straw, oil cake, khesari, gram and fresh grass. Rajkumar's feed costs Tk 1,000 to 1,200 a day and Sultan's Tk 700 to 900.

Rajkumar is very affectionate. If not petted, he bellows, but calms down as soon as someone puts a hand on him. He never hurts anyone and is very gentle.

The bulls' owner, Rumel Ahmad, said: "The two cows have been raised entirely on natural feed. Both are calm by nature. I am asking Tk 17 lakh for them, but there is room for bargaining."

District livestock officer Dr Ashraful Alam Khan said strict measures had been taken so that Indian cattle cannot enter in any way, and that enough livestock had been raised this year.
