Three spotted deer have been rescued from villages at Monpura in Bhola. The forest department believes they came into the villages in search of food.

The deer were rescued from the Banglabazar and Master Hat areas of South Sakuchia union in the upazila on the afternoon of Wednesday, 25 March.

Residents said that around 12pm they saw a deer beside Yasin Sardar's house next to the Batan Khal at Banglabazar in South Sakuchia union. The forest department rescued it after being informed. Around 12.30pm local people caught a second deer at the Lata Khal area of Banglabazar and a third beside Bahar Ukil's house near Master Hat, and informed the forest department.

Sajib Sarkar, beat officer at Pacha Koralia in South Sakuchia union, said the three deer were taken from local people and given first aid. All three were healthy, and around midday they were released into the protected Char Patalia forest in South Sakuchia.

He said the deer are thought to have come into the villages looking for food. Another deer was rescued in the same union earlier, on Tuesday, 24 March.
