A sick eagle has been rescued in Mirsarai, Chattogram, and handed over to the forest department. The bird was rescued at midday on Wednesday (20 March) from Jorarganj Moulvi Nazir Ahmad Adarsha Dakhil Madrasa in the upazila.

Nasir Uddin, a teacher at the madrasa, said the bird had been sick for several days and was staying in the bushes by the madrasa pond. On Wednesday a student caught the bird and told the teachers. "We then kept the bird in a safe place and informed Mirsarai range officer Shahen Shah Nowshad," he said. On receiving the news, forest department officials came and took the bird away.

Mirsarai range officer Shahen Shah Nowshad said the bird was being given first aid. Once it recovers, it is to be released in Mohamaya Eco Park, he said.
